Cooking Skill - Peeling Carrots

Leon - Ok many of the vegetables that make up the five a day, the carrot, but before we go anywhere with the carrot we need to peel it. So over to you Debbie.

Debbie - OK, so we start peeling. It's a bit more tricky than the potato as it's a lot thinner.

Leon - OK and the advantage to using a peeler opposed to a knife is you don't lose as much of the carrot, do you?

Debbie - That's right, we take off a thin layer.

Leon - So we keep all the goodness in which is why fruit and vegetables are so important. And of course you can eat them raw in salads, you can cook them and put them in stews, in soups, you can blend them and make them into a drink.

Debbie - That's right yes, nearly finished, there you go, your peeled carrot.

Leon - So all done, ready to go.
