It is Remembrance Day today when we think about all those people that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. This is not just in the two World Wars but includes modern conflicts like the Falklands and Afghanistan.
Please remember to buy your Poppy and wear it today with pride and then at 11am take two minutes to think about and thank those that have died on our behalf.
We will visit Alma Park School, Levenshulme, Manchester. There will be a presentation of World War 2 artefacts by Philippa James. Children will see what a child had to eat for a week and will probably think that is what they had in one day. They will also try drop scones that were a popular treat in the 1940’s.
There is a school assembly that has a
video message from Simon Weston that you can also watch. Manchester Fayre, who does the catering at this school, is setting up a street party with lots of flags, bunting and great food from the 1940s.
